The UNESCO MIL Alliance is an innovative effort to promote international cooperation to ensure that all citizens have access to media and information skills. Organizations and individuals from more than 100 countries have agreed to join forces and fight together for change. This pioneering initiative was launched during the Global Forum for Media and Information Literacy Partnerships, which took place from 26 to 28 June 2013, in Abuja, Nigeria, aiming to articulate concrete partnerships to boost the development and impact of AMI globally; enable the AMI community to speak with one voice on certain critical issues, especially with regard to policies; and further deepen the strategy for MIL to be treated as a composite concept, providing a common platform for MIL-related networks and associations worldwide.
